Hello! I’m India, the new National Trust Ranger for Limpsfield Common. I’m brand new to the National Trust, so I’ve spent the past 4 months settling into the organisation and getting to know the vibrant local community of Limpsfield.
Prior to the working world, I studied Arts and Sciences at UCL – a course which allowed me to combine disciplines from across the University to develop skills in interdisciplinarity between design, environment, community engagement and engineering. In my spare time I enjoy all kinds of arts and crafts, playing guitar, walking in the countryside and going to see live music and art exhibitions.
I’ve had an eclectic career to date, working in education, conservation and even the natural burial and funeral industry, but I believe each post has given me valuable insight into connecting people with nature, which I’m excited to bring to Limpsfield Common and the Surrey Hills East team.
Before the National Trust, I worked for Surrey Hills Society, running Growing Together – a National Lottery Heritage Fund project. This project provided opportunities for people with disabilities, learning disabilities and from minority ethnic backgrounds to access the Surrey Hills National Landscape, from hedge planting, to nature inspired art workshops to birding walks and more!
Within this role I set up a community garden at Denbies Vineyard which provided a fabulous venue for gardening sessions aimed at improving social connection and mental wellbeing.
I’ve had such a warm welcome already from the Limpsfield community, and I’m excited to work together to protect and enhance nature on the common with all the people who care for this special place.
See you soon!
